Fresh Start exists because the same phone call kept coming in. Somebody needed help now and had no way to pay for it.
The call
It usually starts with a phone call. A person is ready for help, a family is out of options, and the window to act is painfully small. Fresh Start was built to answer in that moment with something practical.
What we built
The Fresh Start Card is a community-funded card spent only on essentials. It gives people facing homelessness, addiction, and crisis a direct, dignified way to meet immediate needs while longer-term help takes shape.
Today, half a million people follow Fresh Start each month. That audience makes it possible to bring real attention and support to treatment partners willing to open their doors.
Who we are
Fresh Start was founded by Victor Oliveira. The work is rooted in a simple belief: when someone asks for a fresh start, the answer should be human, direct, and built around dignity.
